At Home Facial Mask and Wholesome Breakfasts

Now you’ve completed the no-egg waste dinner party showstopper, it’s time to sit back, relax and take care of you. Minimising egg waste doesn’t have to stop at just edible dishes, it can also stretch to beauty and self-care, which is just as important as enjoying a delicious dish or two. In this round of blogs, we want to show you what you can do with eggs to take care of your hair, skin and nails, as well as your gut, all whilst minimising food waste. After a long week of work, we think a little “me time” is in order.

Below is our quick and healthy recipe for avocado and egg white breakfast toast, as well as an egg facial mask to pack some much-needed moisture back into your skin, and leave your skin healthy, smooth and glowing.

Healthy Egg White & Avocado On Toast

Scrumptious Egg White & Avocado On Toast

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (white, brown, rye, or any bread that you like)
  • 2 Purely Organic egg whites (save the egg yolks for the facial mask)
  • ½ avocado, mashed (save other ½ for facial or double up the recipe)
  • 30g cheddar cheese
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Sriracha or any other sauce, if desired

Method:

  • Firstly, pit the avocado and mash it up. Set aside ½ of the mix for your facial.
  • Toast the bread and stand against each other in a triangle shape to avoid it sweating.
  • Cook the egg whites over medium heat with a lid on to ensure they are cooked evenly. They should be ready within 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve the toast, smashed avocado and egg on a plate and sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, drizzle with sriracha or any sauce you wish to use.

Tip: If you want to save the other half of the avocado for later, leave the pit in and brush a little lemon juice over the flesh so it delays the browning process.

Now that your stomach is lined and nourished, it’s time to take care of your skin and complete the self-care morning routine.

Soothing Yolk Face Mask

Hydrating Egg Facial Mask

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 Purely Organic egg yolks (saved from the egg on toast)

Optional

  • Crushed egg shells (saved from egg on toast - to gently exfoliate)
  • 1 tbsp raw honey (deeply moisturises skin and reduces appearance of scars)
    OR
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (hydrates skin whilst smoothing and reducing appearance of wrinkles)
    OR
  • 1 tbsp milk (acts as a natural cleanser, helps to treat acne and brightens complexion)
    OR
  • ½ avocado from breakfast (soothes redness, unclogs pores and minimise breakouts)

Method:

  • Whisk together the egg yolks and add the additional ingredient of your choice.
  • Apply an even layer of the mixture to your skin (avoid eyes and mouth), and leave to sit for 30 minutes.
  • After the time is up, gently wash off the egg mask with a warm flannel and pat your skin dry.

As an additional step to use the
whole egg, you can crush the shell into a powder and mix into the face mask as an exfoliator.

If your partner, friend, or family member doesn’t want to join in on the self-care routine, feel free to half the recipe or store the facial mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days to use again.
